Is anyone out there with the 69 Dart this belongs to?

I just got this 340 in a trade. I figured I would see if someone is looking for their original engine. It’s going on the shelf for the time being. I don’t really have a use for it and it is for sale but I would love to get it to the car it came in if possible.

Does that number read 323550?
The first number is a 2. The 3 your using is actually a B so I'm seeing P9B235500 or similar. Casting date is 9-9(?)- 68. My own casting date is 12 -10 - 68 vin 305604.

u are correct. It is a B. I was reading the reply and not thinking about positions in the VIN. It is B235500 or possibly B285500

That’s what it looks like to me although I am going to try and clean it up a little more. It may be 328550. They didn’t do the best job stamping it.
They never do.

Let me know what you think it is after you clean it up. I’ll check to see what my vin number is.

Hopefully those bores clean up with a .030 over-bore.

There's one potential match in the GTS registry, but we cant see the whole VIN.... maybe Guido will see pic and check in??

BTW, glad I checked in..... found out mine is a very, very early Hamtramck 383 build for '69

These are just about the best I can do as far as photos are concerned. In certain light, the number in question may be an 8.

Is that chicken poop or has the block been welded on, push rod area, near the deck , inboard of cylinder 3 and 5.

Good question. I didn't even notice that. The block is sitting upside down on a rack behind 4 crankshafts now. Pulling it out is a PITA so I probably won't unless somebody is really interested in it or I decide to use it for something. I have way more engines than bodies for them at this point though.

I know this is a long shot, but I am looking for the original 340 from my car.

If anyone has it in their parts hoard, and is willing to part with it, please contact me. Even if it's in your car, I'm willing to trade for a replacement of equal or greater value.

Good luck in your search. You’d be better off starting a new “in search of” thread than posting on this one though
