1973 dart. Is it feasible to remove a perfect, pristine gauge face from my non-functional temperature gauge and place it on a good functional gauge that has a cruddy, ugly gauge face? Has anyone done this?

I've done it. You have to grind the back sides of the rivets off and find a way to reattach them. I used JB Weld. This was on a '70 Charger.

I used a cutoff wheel to cut the rivets on the back side.

Pry the face off....

I was able to do this while leaving the needle alone.

I tried to find a picture of where I smeared the JB Weld. I can't find it. I had 3 clusters, I just used the cleanest faces of all the gauges to make a complete set. Here is the finished job.

I did exactly as you described. Fun and easy! Great results. Thanks Kern Dog!
