I have a 2003 2.4 L Mitsubishi Eclipse with a bad manual transmission and the only transmission I could find in my erea is a 3.0L .Could I use a 3.0L transmission?
It’s the same year and model(2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse) the only thing different is the engine sizeI can not answer the question but……
A 3.0 from a Chrysler?
What year, make & model did it come out of?
This may sound like a stupid question what if I change the bell housing of both transmission, will that work or are the gears boxes too differentCan you get a front view of both? As in where the clutch/ flywheel would reside. What you'll see is the bell housing patterns are different. For EG, the starter for the 2.4 is at about "2 oclock" and for the 3.0 it's at "5 oclock". So that would be a no.
Never tried taking it apartThis may sound like a stupid question what if I change the bell housing of both transmission, will that work or are the gears boxes too different
Ok thanks, by any chance you know any websites that sells used transmission? You see what I'm blithering about, starter location AND that's not exacly a removeable bellhousing. It's the front portion of the trans.
It shift fine but when you put in reverse it make a grinding noise and also the input shaft has a lot of playDo some net searching, Did 2'nd gear go out?
