is this a good deal or a bad radiator?

looks like a good deal. hard to be sure though. I'm not sure about putting it into a '68, it wouldn't suprise me if the early cuda's had different rad. saddles then the 70's one but i'm not positive, who nows maybe they're exactly the same.

New radiators made to fit your specific car are readily available (no need to fab/mod mounts for one that wasn't made for your application). Let me see if I can find a few sources for you.

I would like that please do. I had a source but I would still need to fab something to make it work. My problem is I am putting a 360 in so I need the lower side on the passenger side of the radiator and the upper on the drivers side. I am having a tough time finding something. I would appreciate it if you could hook me up with a source.

Thank you

Brad

There is another outfit on ebay called Champion Cooling Systems that has some radiators that fit a 68 with the electric fan built on for about $234. ITs more than I wanted to pay but it has a electric fan on it and I am liking that.

lol no problem, a rad. saddle is what your ratiator bolts to in front of the motor. Different size radiators used different sized rad. saddles.

With my 408 in a 69 Fastback, I put in a 72 Duster 22" radiator. It fit fine and had the passenger lower and driver upper inlet/outlet, all mounting holes lined up. The only issue was I had to put shims/spacers behind the flange and front support. The flange was about 1/2" from the front support, I just used 1/2" spacers and the bolts went through them. This was an Autozone radiator, so if you look around you might find something better.

I have since gone to a Wizard Cooling radiator, that was my plan all along, I just did not have the money when the engine was done.

there was a guy on here that found where to get some for like 50 bucks. i am thinking aluminum but cant remember for sure i will see if i can find it

yup HIGH EFFICIENCY ONE ROW you can get a good 2 row for what there asking

Champion cores are supposedly made in China end tanks welded in the US then reboxed.I have a thread about it saved somewhere.

FSR are made in the USA and sold at a fair price, this company has great customer service, deals and will custom make whatever you need .

I like the FSR but they are the same price for a one row and the same size.

Here's a few to peruse Brad. Some may be way out of ballpark cost-wise. Also, re: the 360 issue. How about using an earlier timing chain cover on it or perhaps using your exisiting radiator and have the inlet/outlet moved (and recored if necessary)? Sometimes the additional cost justifies itself with the amount of time it takes to search one out (and possibly still have to modify it).

Wow that was a lot of work, thank you. I dont have the original radiator or any radiator, LOL, so im starting form scratch. Thank you for all the work you did for me. I will definitely find one in one of those.

What are your thoughts on the earlier timing chain cover/water pump? Is your motor all ready together?

I have a 340 cover and can get a 340 water pump. The motor is not built yet. I am after the cheapest way without throwing money away on something I will need to replace later.

Will the 340 cover work on the 360 and is the inlet on the drivers side of the cover?

If the water pump is 69 down the outlet is on the drivers side. If it is 70 up the outlet is on the pass side. Any water pump from a LA small block will work.

I like the FSR but they are the same price for a one row and the same size.

Its hard to tell the quality by pics, I have friends that have used the FSR and they rave about the craftsmanship. Also you have to find out if the core tubes are the same size and how many cooling fins per inch, etc to get a good comparison of what ever rad your buying. Also summit and jegs have a lot of choices at decent prices.

I'm going with a custom 27 X 19 FSR double pass for my big block, and at a 199.00 plus 9 bucks shipping its hard to beat. Some of the guys I know that are using the FSR rads run 9sec 1/4 or faster and others are all street with zero problems.....

I know I just kind of analyze stuff to much but I hate doing things twice to make it right.

:read2:

He has good feedback,I seen two of his neautral feedback were for it being from china, and one was for leaking but customer noted he got full refund plus shipping costs, other couple comments were from whiney babies about not fitting perfect(had to drill holes diffrently)so i'd say it's a good deal if it will keep the car cool....jmo i'd try one out in my car
