He was told by event staff on Sunday morning to stick around for the awards. He came home with the "Grand Finale" award/trophy. In the ocean of Fords and Chevies, said there were not a lot of Mopars. The awards are chosen by the promoters of the event. He said the hood got a lot of attention by the Mopar folks and even some of the brand x guys....

Some crazy old guy named Ray use to have the center part of it...donated it to our cause so we could meld it with the original flat hood..... LoL. How ya been Ray? Any great progress on that E-body you're building?

Finally ready for paint. Current schedule just to busy to get to it.

Ironically, his girlfriend's father has a blown Duster that is all chromed out. The car is pretty sweet - they were parked next to each other and Jake had more people interested in his daily driver than the Duster did. And nobody asked him what year Nova he had - HA!

Wow that's a big trophy. Very nice recognition for your father/son effort.

Congrats to Jake- a Maryland Mopar makes good- Good to see young guys active in the hobby

Congrats and very nice indeed,

Can't believe no one has asked this, but unless it's a closely guarded secret can you disclose what two hoods you melded together, how ya did it and post some more pics of both the top and bottom. Curious if the scoops are functional as well. Looks very much like Fury or Coronet scoops with a twist but has a very cool look.

Its all in the resto thread starting at post #138 here: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=165908&page=6

No secret really... Saw RogerK's hood work on his 66 and decided we would give it a go. One good Valiant/cuda hood, a donor E body hood, a sharpie, a metal nibbler and a let's see if it works attitude.... Scoops are non-functional, just as they were on the e bodies. Basically skinned the e hood, skinned most of the A hood, left all factory bracing in place and welded the 2 together. We ended up with an all steel factory looking hood that is not too heavy for the hinges/springs and changed the whole attitude/look of the car. So much so, I've got another donor E hood that I'm debating doing the same on my 68 B'cuda ragtop.....
