This is from 1966's "Take Off" , their first album . Grace Slick isn't in the band at this point ; and , Skip Spence ( later of "Moby Grape" ) is bassist .

I had a friend as a kid that was into the Airplane big time. He was killed in a car accident in college. I named my son after him. Every time I hear the Airplane now (which is very seldom) I think of him. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane.
