Hello all,

Getting a 408 built and will need an oil pan. Looking at the Jegs 360 pan P/N:50272 (555-50272) and it says it holds 5 qt. The stock pans hold 4 qt so I was wondering if this was a typo, any thoughts? Additionally, Jegs does not list a recommended pick-up or would the stock 360 pick-up work with that pan?

I was also thinking about the Kevko M302 so I didn't have to worry about the windage tray but thought the Jegs one could save a little $$$$$.

That pan might not be baffled. That's probably why they don't have to list a pickup. Stock would probably work.

I just put that jegs pan on my 360 magnum. Fit was good, and the coating looks cool. It is not baffled. I just used the stock 318(maybe 273 too)-360 melling pickup. With using the stock one piece magnum oil pan gasket I had around 1/8 inch or so maybe more from the bottom of the pan to the bottom of the pickup. But around 1/2 inch or more from where the screen is in the pickup to the bottom of the pan. Can't answer the quart question though. Summit has a pretty much identical pan for the same price, but after it was on back order for like 2 months I canceled the order. Then bought it through jegs and got it in like 2 business days lol

The listing on Jegs says it will not fit a stroker motor. Is this true?

Did you notice an increase in oil capacity, did you use the same dip stick and are you running a windage tray?

How would that make a difference ??? I have that pan on my 360. It is in fact a 5 quart pan.
Thanks Mopar92,
Did you have to change the oil pick-up and use a different dip stick?

I was planning on using the stock dipstick since it's a stock replacement pan. No windage tray unfortunately. I might be able to tell you how much oil it takes by this weekend. I haven't put any oil in it yet, it's still on the engine stand.

Used a stock pickup. The dipstick I did have to scribe a new line. Put 5 quarts in it and marked the line. Ran it, 3-4 min later made my hot check line. Just as a reference. On the first oil change I let it drain for an hour. I put 4 quarts in it and marked it. So now I have a low, hot, and cold line. Overkill I just wanted to know what I had.

Don't get a milodon. And don't get me started...
I've had very good luck with them sealing up. They are a little thin... so you have to be careful with them I suppose. What's your gripe about them? Curious.

Well I have to go two years back for photos which takes a little bit but I posted them in past threads or on other people's threads. So would you like me to start with a pinhole in a weld and what milodon had to say about that or should we just skip to the big chunk of K frame that I had to cut out to be able to drop the motor in? The banging and grinding to get it to fit correctly over my high volume oil pump or banging the side of it so its own pickup will fit or how it actually touches my headers and I have to have heat shield in between them - wedged by the way...
I asked you not to get me started :mob:

I guess what really gets me is I put it on my brand new Stroker motor that I had it all on my stand in the garage and had the time to do it all right and made all perfect on there and got everything in all nice broke the Motor in and then come out the next morning and its tripping oil out of a weld from the brand new oil pan oh man
