Fingers crossed for ya

I might be seeing something wrong, but are there some busted out lifters in there?

Nice and seasoned. :D

Hell in the old days, people buried engine blocks(Chevy ) in dirt,to season them. No kidding, comes from multiple books, I read. Motorsports technology has come a long way, thank you...

I always love the idea of making a "silk purse out od a sow's ear" kind of thing!
it is an adventure to buy a cheap engine and tranny, get it apart and what you have!!!
its great to be able to afford to have everything for your car to be perfect, highest quality everything ( high cost too), BUT for many of us, not on our plate, and for those that have the $$$, rather approach this hobby with the " low buck" method!!! LOL
NOW< if we could find a way to get low cost required parts for a rebuild!???? LOL

Can't argue that--I just wanna see how this turns out. If I'd found a 383/727 for $150 and all it needed was a sleeve and a rebuild, and a kit for the trans, I'd be overjoyed.

Hey nothing new to report. this sat was my birthday, spent it stripper fishing on plum island , drinking beer eating good food caught no fish but had a great time . will be back at the block this week . Thanks again all for the intrest.

Thank you.

Got just 2 pistons left in block so far still 1 bad hole , have all lifters moving and next battle will be getting cam out . No movement there at all ... just keep soaking and swinging .

Mighta caught some fish if you woulda been fishing for "stripers" not "strippers"!! Lol

lol both would be fun to reel in. Got all pistons out and only the 1 crack, lifters coming out now . broke cam end with gear . Need to pull straight edge out and check crank bore. Gee tired, swinging that hammer around is a work out for sure. Pic in a bit .

Thanks

a little bit at a time

Back in the 90's, had a friend that bored a 383 70 over and put a set of standard bore 440 pistons from a 76 new Yorker in it. The low comp. 440 pistons were almost zero deck. It ran real good for a cheap build. The only bad thing is no valve reliefs. He ran the 484 purple shaft in it with small valves. Just an idea. I built a 440 along those years in 2008 and checked the deck height before I pulled the pistons. They were .160 in the hole. Crazy low comp. Its a wander the last years of the 440 made any power.

Dollars are the right bait for most things lol. Yes trying to push cam out from the inside with hammer and drift (washing machine main shaft) snap cam just at gear .

Looks like it was pulled a year ago from a running car forgot to say it has been stored in the lake out back. LOL

All apart yeep pee, now to run a tap thru the major bolt holes then need to do some work to fund next faze . bore is ok after straight edge check
