Hey everybody i have a used ring and pinion with new bearings and seals and i just put in a powertrax lockright part # 1240 and am wondering how much gear oil, what grade of oil and if i need an additive to put in with this. i also was told the proper brake in procedure was to drive it for about 15 minutes and no burnouts or taking off hard, let it cool for 45 minutes and do that all over again for about 100 miles and after that i can drive it on the freeway and after 500 miles i can do whatever i want. is this true?
Thanks

if its a locker there are no clutches just straight teeth right? that is a locker and will make loud noises when you turn cause the teeth will slam together while turning. and my dads friend had problems with synthetic gear oil in mopar cone type rears so. i used lakewood bfl yellow label gear oil in my 8 1/4 with a clutch sure-grip. i dont know if theres a special gear oil needed. if you have "instructions" see if it says anything about a special gear oil needed.
