This question is regarding my 65 Chrysler 300. I will soon be doing an oil change. The engine is a 383 with 92,000 original miles. I don't beleive its ever been rebuilt. Do I need to worry about using oil with zinc or is any conventional oil okay being the cam has long been broken in? I plan on using Valvolines Max life 10w-30 for engines with greater than 75,000 miles. I just wanted to double check on this.

Thanks for any info

Not being a wrench of note all I can say is what my rebuilding machinst said to use and that is an oil with zinc. For my 65 273 he suggested Mobil Delvac 1300 Super. Hope this helps.

Use regular motor oil but add a zinc additive. Joe Gibbs, Lucas, Comp Cams, and ZDDPlus are a few good brands. Regular and diesel oils nowdays have a very small amount of zinc but not as much as old engines need. Mike
