I am putting a 360 in place of my slant 6 and a local mechanic said the car might not have the correct k member. I already installed a schumacher kit and I do believe he is mistaken .AM I RIGHT?

I do believe that there is no difference in strength between the /6 and V-8 K members, and you will not have any clearance problems. In short, you're right!

The mechanic was right......... BUT, since you put the correct Schumacher mounts in it, you're now MORE right. :)

The K-member serves as a cradle for the engine, a means of tying the two frame rails together, and a mounting location for the suspension pieces. In your case, you provided the proper method of locating the engine in the cradle, so your K-Member is now O.K.

Another way of looking at it is NO! As far as I realize, the K-frames start out the same, then are given pearchs to mount the engines motor mounts that connect the engine.

Theres no oil pan clearance problems or other problems.
