I don't know if these parts actually fit but those are the numbers from their on-line catalog.

One of my grease caps fell off. Turns out after driving them in they are not tight any longer? They are close to impossible to get them in there then for some reason they fall right out. I tried another one I bought and made sure I drove it straight in same problem?

Is it the same wheel that it keeps coming off of?

The driver's side one comes off. I don't hear the one in the passenger's side rattling around so I assume that one is OK. I think the grease cap metal gets compressed and loses tension?

That is the part number that the Dorman catalog called for. It is weird that it is happening only on one side.
How did they differ from your dented up ones?

They are completely different then the ones that were on there. The ones that were on there were longer and not very hard to install at all. And they never came loose. I dug them back out of the trash. The Dorman ones have little "nubs" and they get sheared off cause they are so tight but in the process it compresses the cap. On both sides the cap simply will not even start to go into the hug. They must be driven in just to get them started then with the "nubs" sticking out combine with the caps being too big they compress and end up being loose. I would imagine the other side will fall out eventually.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess I will look for a modification idea such as grinding down the nubs before installing. I would have saved all my original caps any way so maybe some cutting and welding might be in order.

After looking at the Dorman cap that I removed it is definitely dented in where the nubs are. I can't compare the Dorman's size to my old ones cause my old ones are bent up and not round. I don't know if I did that years ago to get them to stay on or what. The old caps are taller but they bottomed out in the hubs. So the Dorman caps are tall enough. Maybe drive in the Dormans, remove them, bend them slightly to make them tight, then put them back on. That might work. I think grinding off nubs before hand would help too.

Has anybody tried to put a cap in the freezer for a hour before install I no when I did a pilot bushing once it made that task a hole lot easier
Just a thought

You know that is a great idea. I should have thought of it because when we were sleeving engines the sleeves were always left in the freezer prior to installing them.
