Kick down question?

I have the Lokar throttle cable and the Lokar kick down cable. I was wondering if I need the spring that would hook to the carb and to the bracket that is typically located at the front of the manifold? Any thoughts?

x3 exactly how mine is too. but i do have a spring down at the kickdown lever on the trans to return it

thats how mine was until i changed over to reverse pattern/manual shift.
