kick-down sweetspot

I can't believe it after three years and 5 carbs I finally found the sweet spot. It stays in 1st up to 20-25 mph with minimal throttle and in 2nd up to 35-40, kicks down almost immediately, has full throttle, and shifts real firm. I'm using the intake and Q-Jet from the 86 360 I bought to rebuild. The Q-Jet also has the solenoid that is activated by the compressor clutch wire which helps alot when idling in traffic with the a/c on. IF it keeps working this good it will go on the 360 when done.

It's all stock 72 318 linkage except I added a taller mount for the throttle cable. I used a choke cable mount off an AFB that raised it up about 1 1/2" and extended the kickdown rod about 1/2" with a piece from the hardware store that is threaded all the way through so you have infinite adjustment.

good job ole brucie. i can adjust mine my cable and kickdown just by popping off the clip and pulling in or out. pretty easy. just need the get the muh ****** running right lol.
