Kickdown band adjustment?

I want to adjust the kickdown band on my 727 tonite but I dont have a in-lb torque wrench all I have is a ft-lb wrench. The book says 41 in-lbs for the adjustment but my wrench only goes down to 10 ft-lbs and Im pretty sure that 41 in-lbs = about 3 1/2 ft-lbs. Can I tighten it to 10 ft-lbs and then back it off a few extra turns (book says to back it off 2 1/2 turns) or is there a differant way to do it?

As a general rule, use a short 5/16" wrench and adjust the stud until it is "snug", and then back off 2 1/2 turns.
