I have rebuilt a dozen or more LA engines in my 65 years but the old mind is getting cloudy. Every small block I remember had two different size round holes in the pan for the round "tits" on the rubber oil pan gasket to go so there was not a question about which way they install. I am going through a 71 318 and the holes in the oil pan are the same size. the rubber end gaskets are shaped different on each side with a taper and straight side and have one big and one small "tit" so no way to clock them with the holes. Which way do they go???????

The big "tit" goes into the right front (passenger side) hole in the front, and left rear (driver's side) in the rear.

cudamark, Thanks, it went in like it looks like it should, but I wanted to make sure. I drilled out those two holes bigger for the tits.
