This may come as a surprise to those of you not living in Las Vegas but there are more catholic churches than casinos.

Not surprisingly, some worshipers at Sunday services will give casino chips rather than cash when the basket is passed.

Since they get chips from many different casinos, the churches have devised a method to collect the offerings.

The churches send all their collected chips to a nearby Franciscan monastery for sorting and then the chips are taken to the casinos of origin and cashed in.

This is done by the chip monks.

You didn't even see it coming did you? :finga::D:D:finga:

Yup, been that way there for years...... They had to adapting to the surroundings. People kept donating chips instead of cash.

That explains the monk who was at the blackjack table next to me back in July.
Said his name was chip. Seemed kind of squirrelly .

Never occurred to me, this might be so, but it certainly does not turn out to be a surprise.

I was brought up Methodist. By the time I got out of the "young stupid kid" syndrome, and realized there's a Great Big world out there, I never looked back

I have no use, NONE, for any organized religion.

funny, at my church we accept dollars, euros, pesos or anything you wish to give us

I look at church as a type of AA. Some people really need it to be a good person and some just like the fellowship, sense of purpose and peace it brings. I have no problem with people who go to church regardless of religion. I was raised Pentecostal, but haven't attended since I was 15. Don't feel like I'm missing anything.
