I wanna ask you guys in this thread a body question, and no, not a flesh body question, lol
I'd rather ask in this thread before I post one in the body section.
My '69 Cuda. I have a front inner clip from a '74 Dart that's going in it.., torsion support, frame rails, inner fenders. The clip that's going in, the very tops of the inner fenders are gone, the last bend that the fenders sit on. The rest of it is fine. The tops in that spot are ratty on the '69, both ends about 2" in are junk.
My question is about aftermarket inner fender tops. I see a couple different brands.. any better than others? Can't get pics as the car is 'winter-buried' behind stuff in the garage.

Can't help RSie. I can tell you this from my experience with reproduction parts. Most are made in Taiwan. Suppliers get them from different manufacturers. The left one might fit okay and the right one might fit horribly. Both from the same supplier. Gordon is a company that has been pretty consistent for me but I doubt they carry what you are wanting.

I could do what my neighbor (who was a welder/fabricator for 30 years) suggested. "Eh, weld on some angle iron, get your fenders right and drill the holes." My car is so far gone from original that might be an option, lol.

Kind of what I was thinking. lol

Thinking about it, might be fun to run some decent angle steel there, and maybe a couple extra supports down to the frame rail. Then ask the kid who comes over with the boy with his Honda if he can do this?.. then jump on the fender, lol.

I guess I am a lucky sap because I have had them all of my life and would probably go over 50 cars and trucks.
Love my Chevy's Cf and would rather work on a Chevy than any other car just because I'm use to them. Just like to give all the car manufactures **** for there bad design just don't push the crap that Chrysler did on this site because I own one. lol

You had some pictures of the frame rails some time ago do you still have them?

I don't get too hung up on one manufacturer but you have to admit, Chrysler was a HUGE innovator in it's prime. Gonna make some mistakes when doing that. Do you guys realize Mopar has "virtually" not built a full frame car since 1960?

New cars get a bad rap for their safety features. New cars are stupid weak where the fenders bolt on for a reason. They call them pedestrian pads. Some cars have sensors that anticipate a collision with a pedestrian and a little charge of explosives raise the rear of the hood to create a soft landing for the pedestrian.

My father in law helped me part out the '74 Dart I bought for the front inner clip a little. He was outright ******* amazed at how these cars were put together... "a few spot welds, and 4 bolts holds your engine and whole front suspension in?!?" Then he realized that his '68 Charger that he beat the living hell out of back in the daywas built the same way, lol.

I get that.. I understand the whole reasoning behind crumple zones and all that.. the impact doesn't transfer to the mainly water based organism inside that box.
I still can give a Nissan hot-shot **** by denting his fender with a loud fart :)

Damn, I hated that show. It was big when I was 13 or so, and got into a lot of arguments with neighborhood kids that had no idea that they wrecked so many cars. I saw my brother Al's '68 with the heads pushed through the firewall when he hit a deer at 120+, and my brother Jim's '68 when he snapped through a telephone pole and then bent a fire hydrant racing a Challenger. Pisses me off they wrecked so many of those cars for a dumb TV show. I did like seeing Daisy tho. :0

As a derby guy I say 66 was the last because it was an Imperial. I know they were sold as a separate brand though.

Just my 2 cents Ron but looks like the old girl has been sitting in a water hole for the last 20 years. I would check the rest of the car and see how sound it is, around the back window look at the rear 1/4 panels for big rust. Not sure what frame rails are the same but I would defiantly hack off the front and replace it but just what I would do.
