Morning Mark.
The adjuster was out yesterday and we went over the house and garage. Looks like I'm gonna have to replace the roof on the house. I should say mobile home, it was bought new 3 years ago.
Will you replace the roof yourself Fred? Take a cash settlement. You'd know the roof was done right for one thing and you'd come out with cash in hand. Or just pay the deductible and have someone else do it while you sit back with a few cold ones

I think I will replace it myself I think I might put a metal roof on.

Would that be better than a fiberglass one? Wondering if that might be noisy when driving but you'd know better than me. Have a great day Fred.
Driving? I think your talking about my motor home. But It's my mobile home or just say house that needs a roof.
You have a good day too Mark.

Yup very few family farms left over this way also. Big outfits come in and buy stuff up then hire people to farm for them. Everything I own is old but it is paid for. I just need to buy land because right now we lease all that we farm. The govt. took the family farm so they could expand the airport.
Sure was nice of the govt. to decide and take your land. Just goes to show people that we don't own the land the govt. does.

Ok got it straight now Fred. You could build a substructure and have a shingled roof or a metal one. A metal one might be noisy in a rainstorm but would outlive a shingled one.

True Mark, was wondering if I could put down some insulation board before the metal. Do you think that would help with the noise when it rains?

Yes that will help on the noise but I always liked the rain growing up and being inside with a metal roof. You can put the insulation down before the metal because the metal is attached to strips of wood over the old roof.

Thanks CF. Not sure if I will use tin or shingles yet. Was planing on selling the mobile and building a small cabin next to my garage when my last kid moves out on his own in about 3 years.
The mobile is to big for just me.

I hear ya. I could live in a 2 car garage but need 5 acres of barn. lol
I'm trying to down size and make life easy as I can so the only thing I'll have is my old car, new car motor home, shop and of coarse my guns and reloading stuff.

Nope single 16x80 3 bed 2 bath but a 1 bed room cabin would be easy to heat. I don't need much in a house Just give me a good size garage and a big tool box and I'm happy.
1 fry pan 1 fork and spoon 1 cup and 1 plate. the kitchen will never be filled with dirty dishes.
Moved off the farm house 3 years ago only one boy at home the mobile was perfect for us and when I sell this mobile I will be out of debt and have about 20,000 in the bank and that's all play money Gonna put a blower on my scamp and go play, Gonna try and die with my boots on in about 50 years.

Nice stuff, I love the old Ford truck! It's so different!

Is that about 1938 vintage?
Exactly...1938. This guy a fantastic job restoring it and did some really nice work on the back. He made the bed for it and made a 3 piece rear bumper and looks like it came from the factory. The one thing I didn't like was it had a 350 Chevy. Actually, it is sitting on a shortened bus frame.
