And fall on your face. That would be a real CRACK UP.
Hey BP when I took the vinyl top off my scamp I found on the left 1/4 ware the roof was welded together with the 1/4 panel the factory bondo was cracked almost the entire seam. Have you any idea why? I haven't ground it out yet but never ran into this problem before.

The factory welds are horrible. You will see when you grind out the filler. Add unitized frame construction to the equation and you have a recipe for failure. Hows your silicone bronze skills Fred? Mine suck. I am mig welding the seams on my Barracuda solid.

Haven't used silicone bronze in years.
My K member I noticed is cracked around the steering box and the factory welds look like **** so gonna have to fix that. I have a friend on this site " sublime one " that knows his **** when it comes to welding and lives close by so gonna have to have him look at it.
You are right about factory welds I never noticed before till I started my first restoration on my own car.

I wish I could braze like these newly manufactured automobile manufacturer's are pulling off.

It is called a Timberline. It is a double door and I guess they were made in New York. I have a single door in the barn and my brother has dad`s single door in the garage that we grew up with.
I've heard of them but don't remember. Good thing about wood heat is if the power goes out the house and shop stay warm.

All setup and enjoying the San Diego weather. Took a trip to a buddys shop and ended up going to the track. Had a blast and my buddys truck ran a 5.13 in the 1/8 on a unpreped track..

Fred, I actually have a couple of pounds of silicon bronze rod in the shop. Not sure if they even still make it. You are welcome to it if you need it.

Of course for a couple adult beverages and some good music and maybe a dog treat for Hemi I might even see if I can remember how to melt some rod for ya!

Thanks John. I think when I get things sorted out on my car I will have to let you look at it and see what you think. I am seeing bad welds all over the car.

LOl don't need to weld anything to get a drink and Hemi can have lots of treats.

Do you play Biff or your family? I have played for years and played out in Seattle Tacoma area as well as a Portland Eugene area. I am resigned now to the over 55 men's beer league. Hockey is still greatest sport on earth. Plus the players stand for the anthem (both). I got total knee replacement a few months back so fear my playing days are over but with season cranking up I miss that familiar smell of the ice rink, guys taping up and beer cans being tossed around locker room after rattling around in the bag all summer!
Well I’m the guy in the striped shirt :( reffed 232 games last year between minor hockey, men’s, old timers I love the game .. only played a handful of games last year .

What? old timers game! I think they named it wrong Biff your far from needing a cane instead of a hockey stick.

They sure do still make it. TIG brazing is a required repair procedure on many new vehicles. TIG brazed or pulse MIG. or mag

I would think trying to keep the heat down on high strength steel is the reason.
