i think he would be better off with compression at 10 or lower using Iron cylinder heads.

with aluminum he can push it up, but so is the price of the build and fue!!

i can still get 93 octane here near the east coast. Can you there?
No just 91 here I can get aviation fuel at around 103 octane but cost around 6 bucks a gallon and 110 or better is about 8 bucks per gallon.

Sure like that idea BP The body work is gonna cost a butt load and would like to get a little more HP out of it without using nitrous.
You been working on yours? .
Sure want to be working on it. Too damn busy working on everybody else crap. I have just about everything, needs front floor pans welded in and I have the rear quarter patches built. All the seams welded up. Its in storage right now but it rolls.
I parted out a 72 swinger a while back. I'm thinking about welding in its package tray and back seat support and using the back seat from it. The fastbacks rear seat is HEAVY. Its mini tubbed. Ill have this, like, six foot long package tray with a huge M embroidered on it.

Once he gets the deck done a 10 to 1 popup piston would probably get him the compression he needs. The cam does not need to be wild either. I would need to look up my card but I remember it being around a .450 lift. That car was sick it would melt the tires in 1st and rip em loose in 2nd and 3rd at the strip. It did suck in the 60 foot time because of not sticking 1st gear.

This was last summer my first run in over 40 years I made two mistakes I had the car set up for 110 octane and was running 91 I also let off the gas just before the finish line because I was stupid thinking I wasn't gonna be able to stop at the end of the track. This is 1/8 mile on street tires and yes I Did wait to long at the start.
The gear vendor was great for it 1st then 2nd then 2nd overdrive is the only thing I did right.
Sure was fun though. lol

What's the M for? Sure glad I am old ans senile because now I can work on my own stuff.

The camshaft I'm running Fred is P3690213 with street hemi profile called the purple shaft , 284 degree duration , .470 lift with 1.5 roller rockers, I had 0.o3o " milled off the heads and had the intake matched , .020'' thick composition head gasket PN 3512719 . used chrome moly 1/2 inch head bolt washers . Intake is a holley strip dominator air gap. With a holley 650 double pumper with mechanical secondaries , also running a 1 inch hvh carb spacer . This help you any .

That's interesting FOG I been looking at the air gap intake manifold and looks like the way to go.
Have you had any problems with it seating properly?

That is why the compression ratio will be critical to offset pre-ignition.

It's a light car as you know. You'll be pleased young man!
