This is my good friend's car. 1968 AMX and had it since it was 1 yr old. 390 4 speed.
About 15 years ago he had just moved out to the country and put his car in a nice shed. After a big snowfall he came out to find the roof have caved in from the snow and landed on the car. The roof was pushed down but amazingly enough all the glass was fine. I went and cut the glass out and he replaced the roof. He's not a bodyman but very clever non the less(he's a class "A" mechanic). A year later I put all the glass back in the car. He had totally stripped the car and did a rotisserie resto on it. He went to the huge AMC meet in Kinosha and took Gold after someone coaxed him to put the car in the show. It used to turn mid 11's back in the day.

I've seen it numerous times and not a bad show but not the best I've seen also. One of the girls is a real airhead. Some nice eye candy though.
Hope everyone has put their clocks ahead one hour.

Nice AMX my favorite year. I had a 70 as a kid.

That is the original colour called Calypso Coral which was basically a Ford colour with a bit more metallic. AMC used a lot of the big three components from what I understand. The colour is actually rare on the AMX but the wheels sure set it off.

Hard to find them that aren't rusted all to hell. His has never seen snow so is mint. The engine is calmed down now it used to run quite lumpy as he had a large cam in it. Just runs a nice cam in it so very driveable and runs out nice.

I wounder why people can be so hard and stuck up life is to short for that.
Gonna finish my car doors today and clean the garage I got a real mess out there.

I think it's an inferiority complex so they have to make themselves look good by bragging and embellishing everything to make you feel they are better than you. I don't care who you are or what position you hold whether it be a ruler of a country. head of a huge empire or business or a bum on the street. Nobody is better that anyone else. Yeah some people have better luck and more pride in themselves. If someone has made millions was it done legally or how many people did they walk over to get where they are. Better get off my soapbox

I seem to run into a lot of people in churches that way. High and mighty but the skeletons eventually come out of the closet.

I will cover your hotel room either night you choose in return for helping me with the inner fenders project. If that appeals to you I will get your room squared away this weekend as they are filling up.I have no idea how to do body work but I darn sure know how to get a hotel room! And holy smokes did we get dumped on last night with snow. County shut the roads down etc. your boys probably told ya but we got hammered. I have 6 ft drifts at door to outside. Jodi and I shoveled till about midnight last night just trying to have a goat path to shop. Holy crap we got several feet of snow. Fargo still suks. And PS Mark I loved the AMX! As with all car shows most cars are just stunning and then a couple you wonder to yourself, why?

Bummer on MITP it is a great show. So are the outside fenders normally spot welded on? Starting to look at removing them, the last time I took a fender off I used a tree. Looks like they are spot welded on, per BPs advice I am not going to remove the inners till I get the new ones in my hot little hands.

Out side fenders are bolted on and easy to remove as long as the bolts are not rusted in. only 1 that will matter if it breaks off. I'll get a picture easier that way. No problem if you want to wait till I get there to take the fenders off we can have them off in no time.
