Looks like I've learned a few things here! (I'm not much of a Mopar guy, if you will recall....)
I had surgery on my left hand on Monday, and I'm more or less laid-up for at least a week, so last night I watched a previously unseen (to me) episode of Roadkill. It was the "Junkyard Rescue Hemi Belvedere" episode, which I think may be one of the last ones they did. It had Frieburger, Finnegan, and Dulcich, and with those three together on the same show, what's not to like?
But I digress.
The basic gist of the episode was putting a 426 hemi, a 4 speed, and a Dana 60, into a '69 Belevedere, and I have to admit I not only knew what they were talking about, but I was also able to recognize some Mopar specific parts (I knew the 4 speed by site), and the vendors (TTI headers, etc). And not only that, I recognized some of the issues they ran into, as I had read about them here!
Not only have you guys taught me a lot (and Thank you for that!), but you're also "wearing me down" a bit, so much so that I may just break down and buy me an A-body once I retire!
(Maybe!)
Not sure my wife is gonna like it, as I already have a good collection of Ford trucks, engines, transmissions, and assorted spare parts lying around.yes...just do it!!!!!!!!!!!
Nothing wrong with a good Ford mostly a 69 Mustang. Not sure my wife is gonna like it, as I already have a good collection of Ford trucks, engines, transmissions, and assorted spare parts lying around.
Not to mention the fact that we've had a '69 Boss 302 in our retirement budget for 5 years or so....
I've had (3) '69 Mustangs in my life, Fred, and I still have a few NOS parts that I've saved for "some day"...Nothing wrong with a good Ford mostly a 69 Mustang.
I still prefer my Mopar but I like all older cars.
Hope your wife's surgery goes well Jim.I've had (3) '69 Mustangs in my life, Fred, and I still have a few NOS parts that I've saved for "some day"...
We'll see what happens. I've put off full-blown retirement for a year (Memorial Day of '26 now), and I'm going to take a 2-3 month Leave of Absence starting in May so my wife can have foot surgery. During that time I'll be working on my shed/shop, and by the time I do retire I should be able to provide a nice parking spot for any '69 Boss 302 that should come my way!
Thanks, Fred! She's had bone spurs on her right foot ever since she broke it in High School (!), and it's been giving her a lot of pain the last couple of years. We just needed to get things coordinated and scheduled.Hope your wife's surgery goes well Jim.
I'd scrap the idea of getting an A body Mopar for now and get your Mustang first. Hard part is finding one.

I agree get the shop built then get the car. Thanks, Fred! She's had bone spurs on her right foot ever since she broke it in High School (!), and it's been giving her a lot of pain the last couple of years. We just needed to get things coordinated and scheduled.
As for future vehicles, it sure is nice to dream, eh? I mean, I'd love to have another (one last?) '69 Mustang, and we do have some money saved-up and set aside for one, but I'd hate to subject it to our weather. The shed/shop will be heated and cooled, but still....
Plus, I want to build one last car that "scares me", and I think that would be more fun than a trailer queen.
But we'll see!
HELL YES!!I agree get the shop built then get the car.
I think you and the wife need to drive it and not trailer it.
Let me take it for a spin and I guarandamntee you will be scared!
No fun pulling a car trailer and only grinning from ear to ear to take it out of the trailer and park it at a car show.HELL YES!!
DRIVE THAT SUMBITCH!!!!!!!!!
(LOL!) That's a dilemma I've been considering for a while now, Randy. Buy a "nice" car (aka, a Boss 302), and then worry about scratches, and dents, and ice cream spills on the seats, or buy a "project car" (like @barbee6043 's '64), put a big ol' honkin' engine it, and tear up the neighborhood like I did when I was a teen! Only have room for....well....none at the moment, but I'm working on it!HELL YES!!
DRIVE THAT SUMBITCH!!!!!!!!!
I think it was at MITP last year where I saw a bumper sticker that said, "Trailers are for boats".No fun pulling a car trailer and only grinning from ear to ear to take it out of the trailer and park it at a car show.
Yep Randy Drive it and smile for miles.

If I had the $$ and the opportunity, I think I would be very very tempted to go after a Boss 351, absolutely love that bodystyle. Either that or find a clean 71 sportsroof and make a clone, drive the wheels off of it!(LOL!) That's a dilemma I've been considering for a while now, Randy.
