Yup, good enough.mine is only 700 and is a cheap $50 dollar gun but I think at 25 feet it should kill a squirrel. Well if hit in the right spot anyway.
But ya gotta hit it if you wanna drop it!

I been out practicing and it's shooting better the only drawback is The old man pulling the trigger.Yup, good enough.

You know, this just struck me....I been out practicing and it's shooting better the only drawback is The old man pulling the trigger.
Don’t know if rifling effects velocity but is sure effects accuracy. Pretty hard to get a smooth bore to shoot a single projectile accurately. Slugs for shotguns are themselves rifled. Remember to breathe when aiming. Get used to the trigger. Pouring here right now, we can sure use itSounds like a good idea! Hopefully that, and the cleaning, will help....
Do you know the claimed velocity of the pellet gun? I want to say that rifled guns are slower, but I can't remember where I read that, or what the reasoning is. Anyway, with a non-rifled gun I would think that velocity should be "up there" to get the pellet on-target ASAP.
For comparison, my rifled Gamo .177 has a claimed velocity of 1,100 fps, but I have no way of directly measuring it.
I haven't shot anything in years so I need lots of practice.Otherwise known as "user error"?
Keep at it, it'll come around.

I live in a mobile home and I'm worried about the damn things getting under my house. You know, this just struck me....
When we living in the 'burbs, there was no way I would have been able to take this outside, as the neighbors would have called the police in a heartbeat:

And I used to have to shoot from an open window.
But now that we're "out in the sticks" (somewhat), now when my neighbors happen to see me, I either get a "thumbs up", or they shout something like, "Attaboy, Jim!", or "Go get 'em!", as we're all sick and tired of the damage caused by the damn red squirrels (we've had numerous discussions).
Think I'll go practice more and see if I can control my Shakey hands.Oh ya almost forgot Both eyes open important
Every now and then I like to sit on the deck and shoot at a wooden box with splatter targets that I've placed out in the woods, and I've noticed that when I don't shoot for a while my accuracy goes all to hell.I haven't shot anything in years so I need lots of practice.
I really like shooting targets and don't really know why I don't continue.
I am going to start paintball gunning for the squirrels in my yard. Should be interesting after they take a few shots of different colors.

That's what I'm using, splatter targets and a wooden box next to a tree. But not very far about 60 feet to start with and I do live in town so I don't have a lot of room to shoot.Every now and then I like to sit on the deck and shoot at a wooden box with splatter targets that I've placed out in the woods, and I've noticed that when I don't shoot for a while my accuracy goes all to hell.
And you're right: It is enjoyable!
Damn that sounds like fun.I am going to start paintball gunning for the squirrels in my yard. Should be interesting after they take a few shots of different colors.
I did that with an opossum, kind sorta....
At our old place we had a critter of some sort that would come through our backyard at night that would set-off the motion detector lights, but the cameras would never pick-up, so after trying all sorts of things I set out a live trap...
And caught a possum.
Let him go....
And a couple nights later I caught another possum. (Same one?)
So this time I spray painted his *** orange before I let him go, and for the next few days my wife said it was pretty funny to read all the "orange *** possum sightings" on the NextDoor app.

I use a cardboard box, use a black marker to draw a 1” dot. 3 shots walk up and circle holes with a sharpie. 9 constantly placed shots ie left of dot and low may require a scope adjustment. The dial on scope will tell you plus or minus inch’s per click. Iron sights are a little harder to set but should be really close from factoryThat's what I'm using, splatter targets and a wooden box next to a tree. Think I'd be better off with a scope but will try the iron sights first. Nice! Just another example of what makes this place so special.Just got back from the post office and got a package from Mark. Opened it up and a set of hearing aids and a bunch of stuff that goes with them. I'll be able to hear people on the phone now and It connects to my TV so I can hear what's going on.
You're the best Mark and I really appreciate it my friend...![]()

Well done, Mark.
When I mount a new scope on a bolt action. I pull the bolt out, mount rifle in gun vice look through barrel adjust till dot is in the barrel then line scope to dot. Now I’m on the paperThink I'd be better off with a scope but will try the iron sights first. I painted the front sight white and am able to get a better group.
