Have a LD 340 intake that I need to install a temp switch for my electric fans, is the wall thickness beside the thermostat thick enough as is just to drill and tap, or remove and have a bung welded in?

I just went and looked at my LD340 that I will use on my 360, it doesn't look to feasible to drill and tap by the rear as those are blocked off.

I will probably get a fitting and install under the bypass hose on the front.

Thanks for the input. Drilled and tapped the an 1/8 npt hole on the drivers side of the thermostat housing. It was about 1/4 to 3/8 thick, doesn't leak and works well with a Derale 16731 switch, on at 190, off at 175 degrees.

Aluminum is about 3/16 thick, enough for 4 threads.
No leaks or issues.
