Hi guys Im wondering what some of the threaded hole locations are for in this ld4b I just painted. There's a hole right into a runner do I just plug that? I know this intake does not have a spot to mount a coil normally. I assume the others are for throttle brackets or something? This is going on a 273 with if I'm remembering right 675 heads. It's hydraulic lifter.

The one in back you are pointing to would be for a vacuum nipple for power brake booster. If no boosters, then plug it. The 1/8 pipe by the T-Stat is temp switch. Not sure the purpose of other threaded bosses.

It's a manifold vacuum inlet. You plug it unless you have something requiring manifold vacuum like power brakes, OR if you want it to run like pure crap, leave it open. LOL :poke:

LD4B says "Damn, I hate going to the Urologist!" That hole can be plugged if you don't have power brakes. That is where a vacuum fitting screws in for a brake booster. The hole right beside the left rear carb holes is for a throttle bracket you may not have. Others towards the front are for AC compressor brackets and such. The temp sensor screws into the one to the passenger side of the thermostat hole. Look in the link below to a thread where a member here designed and built a coil bracket because he is in the same situation. Don't be intimidated....Matt is an aircraft mechanic and is meticulous and detailed as all get out!

There's only 2 open holes, the rest are just accessory bosses.

#1 is a manifold vacuum port for power brake hookup, as previously stated. Plug it if you have manual brakes.
#2 is the throttle cable clamp mounting boss for '66 and earlier 273s. Not used on '67 and later, since they use a different style bracket.
#3 is for an air conditioning compressor support bracket, sometimes for a throttle return spring bracket.
#4 is for the coolant sensor.
#5 is also for an a/c bracket.

For coil mounting, if you don't feel like fabbing something up the '70 340 Six Pack bracket is often used in conjunction with a standard big block coil strap.

It attaches to the manifold bolts on the passenger side of the engine.

I believe Mancini also sells a similar coil relocation bracket.

Thanks everyone for all the info! I'll plug the vacuum port since I have manual brakes. Any recommendations on a gasket set? I was planning to use just whatever felpro I can get locally and china wall the ends with rtv. The intake has quite a bit of pitting at the water neck. Probably have to thin coat rtv on a gasket to be safe.

I painted the intake with Eastwood alumablast. I feel like it's got a little too much of a gold hue but overall really snazzed it up.

regarding the vacuum port in the rear runner, that port is also used for vacuum for the heater and AC systems when the controller is a push button vacuum block. Used in many late 60s/early 70s cars with AC and many early 60s cars that have push button heater controls matched with push button transmission.
