Leaking timing chain cover

Hi everybody I'm new here so please bear with me. My 69 Dart 340 has a tiny pond on top of my timing chain cover. It looks as though somebody tried to tack a leak with a welding rod and didn't do a very good job so I wipe up the leak and paint comes along with it. I'm not concerned with the paint but I am concerned that somehow water might be getting into my timing chain area. I checked the dipstick and nothing there. See photos that I have included and please give me some honest advice thanks in advance

Bypass hose or thermostat housing most likely source.

Get it clean and up to temperature and watch closely. Like said ubove. Or you can rent a pressure tester from a parts store, pump it up to 15 lbs. and watch.
