Anyone use leather accelerator pumps in their TQ's? Are they better that the rubber ones? I'm putting together a TQ with an old Tomco carb kit, it has the leather pump-it's nice and soft. Does a person put any lube like oil or WD40 on the leather? Thanks in advance!

I prefer the leather pump. They seal better for instant pump shot. I was unable to find one for a TQ a few weeks back so I modified an AVS version to work in the TQ. Put some ATF on the leather.

They work fine. I always used transmission fluid to soak it in, but most any oil would be fine, I'm sure.

It’s amazing how organic material can be so resilient.
They were used as stock parts from early on and lasted a very very long time. The leather seal seams to go bad when it’s not used. Like many other parts of a car that sits for a long time.
