Hey yall broke my pig last night at test/tune. What gear would yall think for street/strip [bracket] racin . It now has 5.13 35 spline strange axles 345cu ,m1 dp750,557mpsolid cam,hookerheaders,weighs3317w/ me been shifting at 6500 conservatively ,runs 7.78 reg. 1/8 mile.I was considering 4.30 cause i like to drive to town monthly but i know you cannot have it all any suggestions would bee very help ful . :-D

4.30 would be a good choice, we run 4.30 in our Duster, it's bearable to drive on the street . Good luck , Dane

I agree. How tall are your tires?

I am surprised that an 8 3/4 broke behind a small block. Are you running slicks and a trans brake? What broke in the rear. The reason I'm asking is to try to make my 5.13 bullet-proof.

If more strip than street 4.30 more street than strip 4.10 You didnt mention manual or auto. Stall will determine gear also on street ,as at cruise speed you need a gear low enough to keep converter locked so heat doesnt fry the tranny

Id run a 4:10-4:30 gear .

Did your 8.75 break on the line ?

You NEED to pull the trans out and inspect it, especially the sprag.

It broke just after 2nd gear shift pushed cap off bolts still torqued car the previous owner used the brake alot when i got car we un hooked it but i think it was weakened has 35 spline strange axles and spool w richmond gear ordered mark williams steel caps

We run 4.56s and 325-50 bfg s (28") and it is not too bad. run 12.30s in the 1/4.

i have a set of 4.86 with a 35 spline spool..im useing 4.10's. i am going to get some 4.30's. 4.86 is too much for my small block. i have never used the 4.86's

what broke? 8 3/4 very seldom break without a reason such as pinion angle which is often overlooked, check angle and back brace housing should fix problem.....i'd run 4.30s trac 4.10 street.... or go bb and dana jmop!!
