any information on where to get them would be appreciated......

I read once that you can use hinges and springs from a early 90's Daytona, I have never done this and do not guarantee you it will work but it's what I read some time ago to save a few lbs

I've heard something like that too. Like out of Dodge Omni's too.

I'm also interested to know about this. My stock hidges are really flimsy at the pivot points and I'd love to use some lighter ones instead anyway.

I don't think the spring itself is much lighter if any lighter at all. It is the spring tension that is lighter or less stiff. They are used on cars with fiberglass hoods because they don't need as much spring tension as they are a lot lighter and the heaver springs will cause the glass hood to crack when you try to close it.

Herb Beer will modify your stock springs for use with glass hoods. (Herbbeer at yahoo.com). He's a good guy and they work great.

Atomic Dog sells them here. They appear to be late style (Daytona) spring. I'm sure he'll chime in.
