Here is a 360 that made some pretty good power.
Its a 360 made from an OLD X block that had .400" whacked off the top. 9.200" deck.
Its a 340 main size,
3.58" stroke,
6.300" rods,
JE flat top pistons,
Comp 20-618-5 cam,
Hughes 1.6 rockers,
RHS heads w/2.055-1.625 valves, mild bowl blend and mild exhaust port work(took the lip out from the port exit to the header),
10.3 to 1 pump gas,
Super Victor intake
It made 500+hp from 6000-7000rpm, and we were hoping for 470HP
With the odd 9.200" deck, we had to be a little creative to get the right piston and rod combo without going to custom pistons.
So we chose to use a set of Eagle 6.300" rods with the big end resized for Mopar rod journal. I didnt want to cut the the crank journal as it was a SCAT forged crank and was perfect. The rods were not, about .001" out of round. We also machined a little off the sides of the rods on the big end to get our side clearance just right. The small block Chevy rods are wider than the small block Mopar rods.
The pistons are off the shelf SRP(JE) small block Chevy 23* pistons. The valve pockets are not that same as the Mopar, so we modified those to clear the valves. Compression height was 1.125" and they are very light. Our Bob weight for balancing was a feather light 1656g.
It all worked out in the end and this thing runs great. Fully ported heads and a solid roller cam, this 360 can make 600+HP.
