Echlin sells a rotor (MO3000) that has a longer blade. is there a performance gain from reducing that gap or is it a partial bandaid for too much phasing clearance? thank you for your time. RR

Wider? I think I remember an Echlin rotor that was longer. I have a friend that extended the tip on a rotor to make it longer, because some cap’s have a bigger gap. I chased a very slight flutter for a bit because my rotor was too high. So the rotor would arc up to the exposed terminal on the roof of the cap instead of outward to the terminal. So it would fluctuate the timing a hair. Filed the base

of the rotor and problem fixed.

Phil Jacobs, in his book Perf Ign Systems recommends widening the rotor gap for better spark performance.
