Smart man!

It is an 8 3/4, I'll have more than 500 hp so we will see how it goes. It is a posi.what dif you have 8 3/4 or a Dana ? 83/4 with 500 hp and torque with sticky tires , looking for trouble , I broke 2 83/4 with an automatic am looking for A dana , 83/4 are good to a point

with a 4 speed and sticky tires good luckIt is an 8 3/4, I'll have more than 500 hp so we will see how it goes. It is a posi.
Well, it's actually a sure-grip instead of a posi, so that should help.with a 4 speed and sticky tires good luck
I had to choose between nitrous under glass, and hemi under glass. Since I am a dentist, nitrous is readily available. And, I didn't want to cut out the floor and put plexiglass in to see down the dragstrip! If blueprint had an option of a forged crank, we'd be there. Thanks Rusty. Seems nitrous is on his must have list.
It's mostly street with occasional drag racing. I'm kinda leaning toward a stout 360 with 200 hp nitrous shot. Everybody loves the 408 stroker, but I think my limit with this engine and car is about 600 hp. Might as well keep it tame at 400 street hp with a nitrous option. I'm going with all forged internals and aluminum heads with a roller cam. Might do EFI.car looks good , what is the purpose of the car , drag strip street or road course ?
if you are just looking for 500+ hp go for a built 360 with nitrous
You gotta go to the "start conversation" tab to send me a PMIt's mostly street with occasional drag racing. I'm kinda leaning toward a stout 360 with 200 hp nitrous shot. The closest track is 1/8 mile. I wouldn't mind running the 1/4 mile but the reality is, that track is several hours away.looking at the background of your picts I’ll assume you’ll be doing some 1/8th mile drag racing.
Well I put the SoDak plate along with the picts and assumed Sturgis Dragway would be your “close” track. We bought land about 25 min from there east of Piedmont. We hope to live up that way in about 3 yearsThe closest track is 1/8 mile. I wouldn't mind running the 1/4 mile but the reality is, that track is several hours away.
It's a great area. Lots of people moving in from all over, for better or worse!Well I put the SoDak plate along with the picts and assumed Sturgis Dragway would be your “close” track. We bought land about 25 min from there east of Piedmont. We hope to live up that way in about 3 years
I need some advice on camshaft and cylinder head selection. First of all, I'm needing to stay on pump gas. I am at 3200 feet and the premium here is 91 octane, and non-ethanol fuel is easy to obtain. Now for the problem. I just bought a stoker kit for the 360 to 408. This piston gives me 10.7:1 with 65 cc combustion chambers. BTW, I went with a Scat cast crank because the engine builder thinks they are good to about 600 hp. Yes, I would have preferred a forged crank, but try finding parts right now. Pistons and rods are forged.
I realized that compression ratio is dependent on cam shaft to a degree. I'm looking for 500 hp without nitrous and 600 with nitrous. I'd like to go with trick flow heads but can't find any and they are 60 cc combustion chambers. Maybe looking at Edelbrock heads, which I believe are 65 cc. I think my compression ratio should be under 10.5 to one. How much compression can I get away with at this elevation with derated 91 octane premium? What is the easiest way to lower compression a little bit? Not happy with my options, but I am going to have to live with them with the supply chain shortage. I was lucky to get the stroker rotating assembly....
And, I need to pick a carb and intake manifold.

Hmmm. Hughes engines does a mild porting which enlarges the cylinder volume by 8 cc's. That should give me low 10's compression ratio. Then I can run a hotter cam with a wider lobe separation. Most of my driving will be street. I can give it a squirt of nitrous at the track for an addtional 125 hp or so. It's a manual trans car so idle can be a little unruly. No power brakes or power steering. There is a 408 motor on the dyno page of Hughes engines but I think the cam number is an old outdated number. To keep from affecting your engine parameters too much, I would alter the compression by getting a larger combustion chamber so you can obtain a near zero deck and have good quench. With nitrous and that much compression, you may need a custom grind LSA to get the most benefit out of your combo. I built a big NMCA SBF stroker for a customer of mine back in the late 1990's that had almost 14:1 compression and was spraying 400 horse Nitrous Works fogger on top of it. It's all in the cam.
