There is a pretty much out of control fire on the other side of the state. Winds shifted and are now blowing he smoke this way. Yesterday morning we had very little cloud cover, when the sun was rising there was a very vivid orange glow on everything. The rest of the day looked like this....

Normally we can see the trees on the other side of Long Lake/Lake Spokane/The Spokane River very clearly.

Local fire was 100% contained. While the fire crew was cleaning things up we had a thunder storm roll thru. Friends that live in the area where it was burning had a lightening strike on the parcel next to there's that started a fire. Luckily the fire crew was on it within 5 minutes and had it under control before it got rolling.

To any and all Firefighters that are members here, Thanks....Without you folks we would all be in a world of trouble...

Wildfires suck! They can take away everything that you've worked so hard to get...

Stay safe and I hope the fires don't get to your place. (Maybe you should build a mote around it to keep the fire at bay....)

Are you back for good Doug?

Or just waiting out the fire storm.

Not back down there, meant that with our miserable air quality it our area now looks like Phoenix....smoggy....

Just stay safe.

Everything that is burning is to west and south west of us, couple hundred miles or more.

Was just out seeing the Boss off to her sewing class, a bit of ash was falling...

Have been here since October of 08 and have never seen this many fires in and around Washington State. Has been so dry of late. So much for what all of my AZ friends telling me I was crazy for moving to where it rains constantly. Our 'hood is in its own little valley of sorts. Not uncommon for it to be raining up on 291, about a mile and a half from our place, and raining in Lincoln County, just across the river about the same distance and not get a drop here. Last time it rained here it was pouring up on Elaine Street, hard enough that the wipers were on high and we did not get a drop of it.....

Wish my camera batteries were not drained, the sun looks pretty wicked right now....

Ernie has been talking about a mote....but she wants to put some alligators in it :wack:

I was considering mentioning alligators also, maybe some sharks too.

But we wouldn't want to put the dogs in jeopardy.... :banghead:

Pinetop/Show Low just had a fire and folks had to be evacuated. Luckily we got some rain and it put it out. Haven't checked on the story to see whether it was wild or not, but thankfully they got rain. I bitched when the rain passed us up here in mesa til I heard it help put the fire out.

I have a buddy that lives a bit east of Payson, not to far from one of the camp grounds, starts with a K but drawing a blank. Dave has had a few fires burn right up to the edge of his place. That whole area, thanks to the Bark Beatles, is a box of kindling wood waiting for the opportunity to go up.

Wish we would get a good soaking.

Sky cleared out late yesterday, but now that we have a rapidly growing fire to the south of us may not last. Right now we have hardly any wind, hop it stays that way.
