Hey guys, I've got a semi- built 383, new Holley double pumper, reworked heads, new MSD ignition system. We'll, this car spits out a lot of water/condensation out the exhaust, and I can also hear hear some fuel igniting within the exhaust when I rev it some. The carb is close to being tuned, but I would definitely say not 100%

What could cause this excess fuel and condensation out the exhaust? Thanks.

You cannot change the science of combustion. What is your weather / humidity down there lately? The main product of combustion is water in any form you care to mention.

Only possible "abbynormal" condition would be a blown head gasket or head / block problem

As mentioned,, water is a by-product of combustion,, and what can happen when the motor is run for short lengths of time,, the exhaust pipes and mufflers will not get hot,, they collect quantities/pools of condensation/water,, and it'll take a good long run to get the pipes hot enuff to evap water,, and way longer to boil out the "pools" of collected water..

Same thing will happen inside the engine if you don't run a PCV.. water will condense on the inside of valve covers, and start forming "sludge"..

cheers

Hmm,
-The humidity is 88% NOW, and it's 10:30 in the morning, been like for awhile.
-Heads were just reinstalled after rework, gaskets are new, but anything's possible.
-Haven't pulled a plug in a awhile actually, I'll try that.

I know the accelerator pump needs some adjustment, so I'm REALLY hoping it's just that. That combustion in the exhaust system is unsettling..

I'll check the plugs and fine-tune the carb, then go from there. Thanks Peeps.

THAT is your answer

"In a previous life" in auto parts we had a local grass grower, their mech had asked me (like I'd know LOL) about an intermittent problem with a Ford 4x4. It would start, idle, and sometimes had "no power." It was a local "farm" jitney, so it had LOTS of short trips, in the winter

We had an early thaw, and they had left it in the heated shop overnight. THAT is when they discovered that the exhaust system was full of water...........which HAD been ice!!!

Thanks, and i bet my combustion issue goes away after proper tuning. Thanks guys, I'll buy you all a beer.
