Hi all, I picked up a set of Napa lower control arm bushings but my pivot shafts aren’t a tight fit in the bushing. I’m assuming they should be a press fit. Anyone run into this issue before or have any recommendations?

Thanks

it should be press fit. if you don't want poly, proforged are good quality.

i've also had good luck with Delco Gold and mevotech supreme.

avoid moog and the house brand/low line from most retailers.

Moog stuck it to me on the uca bushings because I didn't attempt the install in 30 days. They verified over the phone they were out of spec, didn't care. That won't happen again

Napa is obviously reboxing Moog bushings...

Try Pro Forged bushings...
I went thru this a little while ago in rebuilding two pairs of lower control arms.
I have been using Proforged bushings in my rebuilds for quite a long time now.
But everywhere you look Proforged bushings are out of stock, and on back order, with no telling when they will get to the USA from wherever in the word that they're made.
And if you try the Proforged company themselves, they will charge you an exorbitant shipping rate to get them, if they even have them.
$28.00 bucks to send four bushings.
I said F - U and found some AC Delco brand bushings, but who knows if those are just re boxed bushings now in a AC Delco box.

Anyone have the delco part number? I just got some in from RockAuto that were whatever brand they had. Same thing. Pins just slide right in.

45G9008 is the most common number. it sometimes has a prefix of ADO or ACG

16685-05430327 is another common number but may be superseded now or it could be a UPC number i wrote down that's totally irrelevant, my notes are old and tired and have slept since then. use at your own risk.

66461HJ is for the silver line if you like to gamble.

i've been using the proforged rubber lowers their number is 115-10015

The employees in the NAPA stores around here have been a little vague about what happened between the NAPA organization and Moog products. They are selling off remaining stock but I can’t order anything they don’t already have in inventory. I wanted the K-7103 bushings and they didn’t have them from Moog but…. Whatever the name is they are dealing with now, they do have similar appearing offset bushings for a fair price…$19 a pair.

that's interesting...

do you have a part number for those offsets? my napa closed and counter jockeys at the new one i'm going to are totally baffled with the whole process of looking up parts.

I have seen the lower bushing installation done two different ways.
The only time that I did it, I pressed the bushings in to the LCAs, then the pin into the bushing. Is there a drawback to doing it that way?

How did you support the inner sleeve when pressing the shaft in? It's possible to support it through the torsion bar socket but you can't see what your doing.... By pressing the shaft into the bushing you can clearly see everything... Plus, what the bushing slides on the shaft instead of being a press fit you don't have to destroy it to get it out of the LCA...

I used an assortment of tubular shaped spacers, 1/2" Drive sockets and other things to press the stuff in and out. Some of the stuff I do, I just figure out as I go and sometimes I don't remember exactly how I did it.

Pipe fittings, etc..........

But you have to go to a real plumbing supply. HD/ Lowes "selection" of black/ galvanized pipe fittings BLOWS
