I just bought an untouched -in the crate- Chrysler 380 HP motor and have these questions:
1. Can I run a V belt system?
According to "How To Build Big Inch Small Block Mopars" regarding Magnum motors:
States in part that water pump is "reverse rotation" requiring a serpentine sys. (I am also runnning a Powermaster alternator)
2. Book recommends magnum R/T heads for a 20 HP increase as a bolt on replacement for Magnum heads. Then the book mentions Eddy heads, but states they can't be used on a Magnum shortblock. So, does this mean I can't use Eddy heads period?
2a) What can I expect to pay for R/T heads? Is my Magnum valvetrain transferrable to the R/T head?
3. Fuel pump: Book states can't use mechanical pump unless the water pump is modified. (Pics in book show the clearance issue. Recommends removing timing cover and using a Hughes eccentric adapter.
Anyone with a Chrysler Crate Motor that has suggestions or answers would be greatly appreciated. The motor is going in a Duster and I already have a Holley 750 DBL pumper and looking for headers. I do not know whether to go 1 7/8 TTI, hooker, hedman or stock? Note: I also have 100 shot NOS.
