The new converter is in, tranny is bolted back up to the motor.... Now I'm waiting on a complete set of converter bolts to show up so I can bolt up the converter.

One step closer to getting it running!

Oh, definately. I'm planning on going to Atco next Saturday (the 30th).

Sounds like you plan to go faster this year ? :thumleft: How much are you hoping to pick up ? Ron

I'd like to pick up a second or two... :lol:

I'm expecting maybe a tenth or two.

Starter -> in!
New u-joint -> installed!
Driveshaft -> in!
Transmission cooler lines -> connected!
Linkage -> connected & adjusted!
Transmission blanket -> Still working on that...

Getting closer! Hopefully my converter bolts will be here tomorrow, I can get that finished up. Then one or two other items and it's time to fire it up!

You got a roll bar in that car I hope?

Nope... I don't need one until I go 11.50 or faster, and I don't think it's gonna do that. At least not this season.

It's an RCI blanket. I'm not sure if it's long or short, it's a universal one that is (according to Jeg's) 47 x 11-1/2.

I really should've layed it on top of the tranny before I re-installed it. Now I'm trying to slide it in with everything all in place. Major pain in the butt. I'm pretty sure this is how I did it when I first installed it (years ago), but I can't remember having this much trouble.

How did your valve body replacement go Mikel? Any problems I should know about?

Jack

I haven't done it yet. I looked over the instructions a number of times and got really nervous about doing it myself. A friend of mine who has experience digging into trannys is going to take care of it for me, sometime in the next few weeks.

2 &*&(@!# HOURS OF WIGGLING to get the )(*#)(*#@! tranny blanket on!

Then I remembered that I put it in from the back instead of the front... 15 minutes later it was on.

Man, I hate that thing. And I'd like to meet the !@#)(*! Chrysler engineer to decided that the oil filter should have to be removed to get to the last @!&(!(#@ tranny bolt!

Going to bed now...

Yes since I do alot of Mopar tranny's for a living I can tell you I have started a few over the years and forgot to put the oil filter back on. :shock: I guess after 30 years it can happen. Ron

I've left the oil filter sitting on the cowl so I don't forget to put it back on.

I'm better today, last night I was really annoyed with the whole blanket thing. My hands are all sliced up from jamming them up in the tranny tunnel, but at least the blanket is on.

What's left? Put the exhaust back together, install new plugs, wires, fluids (tranny, oil, coolant). Then I'll fire it up, make sure there's no leaks. Then swap out the Mopar distributor for the MSD, make sure that works ok. I'm going to leave the brake and radiator swap for next week. Unless it turns out that I can't go racing this weekend, then I'll get it done this weekend.

Torque converter bolted up!
Exhaust bolted up!
Spark plugs in!
Oil filter on!
I've got to make new spark plug wires, then I can (hopefully) fire it up today.

What did you stay home today?

I work from home on Wednesdays... So I can make up the wires & fill it with fluids during my "lunch hour", then fire it up later this afternoon.

Sure your not going to work on your lunch break from the Duster :tongue:

Can I get a job like that. I am lucky if I can get 15 minutes for meal.
