Then this is why you don’t go by my memory. Of course, I was getting at least 2 lobes done at a time so maybe that’s what I’m remembering.

Sucks getting old.
 
Pretty cool. I'd say with a little prep work the transition between the filler and cam would be indetectable.

One lobe is probably financially a wise move, especially if a local grinder. Three or more lobes (mine), not such a great idea....


Mine was a nice Racer Brown roller cam and I talked to Jim about it and he said before I send it Chuck it up to see if it’s bent. The racer brown roller in my engine now is a cast steel cam not a billet.
 
Nothing new really. Ed Iskendarian has been welding and grinding cam lobes for a lot of years. In fact I think he built his own grinder back in the 50s. There’s a great documentary on him, I’ll see if I can find it.
