whats the ratio on a manual box? are there diferent boxes or are they all the same? mine is about 3 1/2 turns lock to lock. is this right? thanks
sb

there was a optional 16:1 box used in Formula S cars

adam, this box was in the trunk of a parts car i bought so i hae no idea what its out of. is there a way to find out with the part #?

firm feel has a rebuild kit. They ain't cheap. I guess it all depends on what you are replacing. If you just want new seals and bearings, it shouldn't be too bad I guess. If the wormshaft needs to be replaced; look out. Is the box loose? Does it really need to be rebuilt or does it just need to be adjusted? I think I might try rebuilding the steering coupler before I rebuilt the box. It's cheaper.

You really don't want a 16:1 box. Too hard to turn. Send it to me and I'll trade you a 24:1, or a complete power setup straight across.

I feel so bad about you getting stuck with one of these foul devices, I'll even pay for the shipping!

everything is nice and tight, it just has a little rough spot right in the center. maybe a little worn. i dont have the column hooked up yet but i can feel it when turning it by hand. ill check firmfeel though. thanks

well....acording to firm feels website, 3 1/2 turns IS a fast ratio! DAMN my bad luck. $475 for a new box and $400 for a rebuild kit. hahaha what a deal. i think ill deal with it for now

Well there you go, I was looking for somewhere to try and confirm that. Poor unfortunate soul you , stuck with that. Lol! As Adam mentioned, some of the GO FAST models were outfitted with the 16 to 1 boxes ,so no need to look any further.

My car came with a 16:1 box and I love it! Of course you want that! It's awesome. If you are weak in the arms/shoulders then maybe you'll find it tough. I am pretty strong, and I do find it tough to park sometimes, but on the road it's great! You feel the road and the car....it's just the best.
