Manual disc brakes vs power disc brakes questions

not sure, they were on an aftermarket front end I picked up that was really worth the money. only thing I did was install it and build strut rods for it.-------72 blue, not sure it`s worth the effort at this time, but what alum. Chrysler master cyl has the 15/16 piston ? mine does not have that big of a piston as you said, might have forgot what I did use !?? I know it`s under and inch.

None of the aluminum m/c's from Chrysler had a 15/16" bore from the factory. You can order them from Dr. Diff, he sleeves down the Chrysler parts. And if it's a master cylinder from a Diplomat it is 1-1/32", they all were. In fact if it was off any car after about 1978 it's 1-1/32". Here's the application list, part number is RAYBESTOS MC39034

CHRYSLER CORDOBA 1979-1983
CHRYSLER FIFTH AVENUE 1983-1989
CHRYSLER IMPERIAL 1981-1983
CHRYSLER LEBARON 1979-1981
CHRYSLER NEW YORKER 1979-1982
CHRYSLER NEWPORT 1979-1981
CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY 1979-1981
DODGE ASPEN 1978-1980
DODGE DIPLOMAT 1979-1989
DODGE MAGNUM 1979
DODGE MIRADA 1980-1983
DODGE ST. REGIS 1979-1981
PLYMOUTH CARAVELLE 1978-1989
PLYMOUTH GRAN FURY 1980-1989
PLYMOUTH VOLARE 1978-1980

Some of the Dakota's came with a similar looking master cylinder that was 15/16", but I don't think they were aluminum. They've come up before too, there was some reason why Cass was sleeving car M/C's instead of using the Dakota ones. And you can use a m/c from a power disk car, but you have to make sure the back of the piston will accept the manual brake rod. Not all of them are machined to take the manual brake rod and lock it in like it's supposed to be.

I bet the reason he is sleeving them is that the fittings for the brake lines on these are SAE and the dakota ones are prob metric. This makes it more of a bolt in. I bought 2 aftermarket 1&1/32" bore MCs both were machined in the back for manual brake rod retainers. There may be some that are not, but this was my experience.

BTW which dakota MCs came with 15/16" bore? I looked up 1987 to 1994 all those had a 3/4" bore, a sloped reservoir for an angled firewall, and metric fittings.

88 Dynasty 4cyl uses 15/16 bore master but the fitting are both 3/8-24.

The Dakota m/c I was referring to was listed for an '89, but it's also listed at 24mm, not 15/16". My mistake. It is pretty close though.
