A while back I was looking at my top boot and thought there was a lot ove pressure on it with the top down. I looked down inside and found what was left of the hold downs. Couldn`t find any new one and no pics of what they look like, so i made some. does anyone have a pick of the original looks like. this is what I came up with:coffee2:

Those seem to catch rather high. The manual top hold downs on my '65 are much shorter.

Laysons sells these. If you contact Rick from Laysons on this board via PM, He can probably have the order gathered for when you call to pay. These catches break about every 3-5 years here in Vegas, and they bend with the heat after one summer. Depending on what you've made yours with they may last better.

Will take some Pic's at lunchtime and post.

chewy, thanks for the info. I didn't even know I was missing those on my 64 Valiant.
OldFartsDart, very clever. Did you cut those from solid stock or did you find an existing hook to work from?

Well i`m kinda a pack rat and when they would throw stuff away at work that looked like I might could use out of the trash it came. It`s like nylon or something like that very sturdy. I made some for another member here awhile back. easy to make and I don`t think they will wear out. I made my adj so it would hold the top down just so the boot would be just taut. One thing I don`t have to worry about here is too hot, and too much sun!!!!(LOL)

Hey Folks, I have my 65 Vali top held down with ropes at the moment. In fact they seem to pop out past the housing. I'm new to the forum and will surf the forums about that... Also, any idea what these little buggers go for? Old Fart's design looks pretty smart. I'll call Layson's like Chewy Suggest. I'm about to get the car soon and anticipating handling this issue.
