Did A-bodies with manual transmissions have different inner fender (specifically drivers side) than automatic cars? I seem to remember photos of manual cars having an inspection/adjustment hole behind the uca forward of the splash shield. Anyone have photos of an original manual car in this area? I am specifically working on a 69 Dart but I think it would apply to all -bodies.

72 Dustyer. Tell your wife that the service manual refers to that as "A". Yes, my Dart has one right behind the wheel also. My Dart has no different holes in the inner fender though.

The inner fenders are all the same. The hole on the driver side about 6 inches behind the hard brake line is for the clutch cross-shaft on a stick car.
On auto cars they put a small rubber plug in the hole.

The manual has a reinforcement bracket on the outside of the frame rail for the Z bar, that is the only difference I know of. My 67 had the hole, just had to weld the bracket on to look like factory installed.

Someone is repoping it.

Thanks. Must be other body style??? Don;t know where I have seen it but I know I have seen it.

Wildcat - do you know who is repopping it??? Doing an auto - 4 speed swap
and want it to look right.

My car is a factory automatic and it has that bracket welded to the outside of the inner fender from the factory. I bought the car totally original from the original owner back in 1979 so its not a re-bodied car or anything. Its a factory mistake the bracket was put on the car.

WELD? I've had mine bolted in for several years without any problems. I'll TIG it once the beast is up & roaring. 8)
