I have 10" rear drums and 9" front on my 68 Dart convertible
I need to replace the non-power master cylinder and I was wondering if I should just get the 1968 replacement or is there a better year that will bolt up and perform better. Thanks

I always swap over to the late model aluminum MC. They are lightweight, they don't rust and the plastic reservior keeps the fluid cleaner. The price is pretty decent if you buy the kit from Eberg.

Be aware that the MC he sells has the large bore (1-1/8") which is common on trucks. In a manual brake application, such as yours, it will require a lot more "leg" than a smaller bore. You may or may not like it. The "great braking feel" he describes is a very subjective opinion.

I built my Duster with an iron MC of that size. It requires a lot of effort which is okay, but in an emergency stop could be a real chore. At this very moment I'm in the process of swapping in an aluminum 1-1/32" bore MC. For reference, most original car applications have a bore smaller than 1".

Let us know what you think after installing it.
