Can anyone describe to me how I remove this rod to utilize in my new master cylinder ?

Since you have the piston and rod out of the car

Open your vice a bit larger than the diameter of the rod.

Set the piston on top of the vice with the rod hanging down

Place a piece of bar stock or thick wall pipe (the closer to the ID of the large hole the better) in the large hole of the rod.

Wack down on the bar stock with a hammer close to the rod.

This assumes you never want to use the piston again. If you want to use the piston again you could protect it with a piece of wood between the vice and the piston.
