I have a stock set of 906's on my 383 stock guides, and stock rubber type valve seals, with comp dual springs and retainers. I want to run a comp xtreme energy 285 with .545 lift intake+exhaust, my question is do I have adequate clearance retainer/locks to guide/seal or will I squeeze the seals and destroy them?

First thing is to check to make sure the springs are strong enough for the cam lift you are using. If you do not have the right springs, you are going to compress the springs to far. Then you still need to make sure your piston to valve clearance is ok.

Little more complicated than that but thats the jist of it. that cam will need matching springs. Installed heighth will need to be set so spring pads will need milled. When doing that the heads can be milled for the seal to retainer clearance.STOCK springs wont cut it for that lift.

You will have to replace the springs, the heads will have to be milled for new positive lock seals and good time to do another 3 angle valve job and have the guides replaced...
