MoPar was the acronym assigned to the parts division, DMOORE is correct, the acronym was created from the words Motor Parts. CHrysler did that because MANY of the parts fit on many models and they didnt want to have to pay for separate logo box's for the same part..... which is why you see MoPar vs, Chrysler parts, Dodge Parts Plymouth Parts etc......same with part numbers....several part numbers fit on numerous different vehicles across the lines...it was just a more simple and cost effective way to manage their parts and packaging......after a few years people began calling the cars MoPar's and it kinda stuck
