barracuda starts and runs rough but runs. i drove it down the road and it ran ok but on the way back it started to backfireing on both ends. then died in the driveway. wouldnt start back untill today. started right up. i let it run in the driveway and after it started to backfire out the exsahust it died again and wont start. motor is a 400. any ideas?

What do the plugs look like color wise? Where is the timing set at? Vacuum leak anywhere?

Timing chain. When it cools off enough to restart, put a timing light on it. If the marks seem to move back and forth the least bit, the chain is shot.

Sounds like a ignition issue, usually a timing chain will just change at once, it won't go back and forth.

I would say brain box. (Acts up when it gets hot)

Throw another brain in the glove box, and the one on the car will work perfect!

plugs r new but i'll check them. will also check the timeing. thanks guys. and im sure i can find a Vacuum leak or two somewheres i missed
