i have a 73 duster with rebuilt 360, i am getting motor vibration, builder says its because it has steel motor mounts with no rubber in them, and i need to change to rubber ones, everything else is fine any thoughts? thanks

The engine is the item in motion, if the motor is vibrating then yes you would feel it with solid mounts but changing the mounts is only a bandaid fix when the real problem is the motor is not balanced or vibrating. I hear engine builders say this quite often and would really like to know how a stationary part like a mount causes a vibration. It maybe the part that relays the vibration to the car then you but it does not cause the vibration.

Steel mounts will transfer vibrations extremely well, making the ride inside very uncomfortable. A set of rubber mounts will make a huge difference. You might start by just replacing the passenger side first and see how you like it. They make mounts now that have steel plates that overlap internally but are still insulated. You might try a set if you`re concerned with breakage.
