just couriuos what weight motor oil you guys are using in your basicly stock small blocks, also dino or syn ??

10w-30, 10w-40...either is a great choice. 20w-50 if you need more pressure as the motor starts to age. Full syn, syn blend, conventional...it's all preferance, opinion, and circumstantial.

Check out bobistheoilguy.com for more great info pertaining to oil, filters and the like!

15w50 Mobil1 synth. This particular weight is designed for flat tappet engines, and has the same amount of ZDPP as dino oil had back in the day -- 1500ppm.

QS Defy is also high in ZDDP...and a heck of a lot cheaper that Mobil 1!

I cant find anything anywhere that says mobil1 15w50 has zinc in it.
Can you show us something to support your statement ?
This is the prefered oil in many factory cars of today, including the Corvette.
I find it hard to believe they would be running a high zinc oil in a catalytic converter car.

also corvette's use mobil 1 5w-30

Interesting.....1300ppm.
Not bad than if your looking for 50w oil.
I use 10w30 or 30w in my /6 & V8 cars.
